Starr Auditorium to be dedicated April 4

The Ken-Ton School Board has approved a grass-roots drive to name the Kenmore West auditorium in honor of Samuel “Jerry” Starr.  Mr. Starr, who started the musical theatre tradition at KW, passed away last summer at the age of 78.

In a letter to the board supporting the move, Brian Dana wrote in part:

““The impact Mr. Starr had on generations of students is staggering. Onstage and backstage at Kenmore West became a haven for students involved in the arts . . . Whether he was called Mr. Starr, Jerry or S. J., his name was synonymous with [theater] at Kenmore West for decades. Although he is no longer with us, we know the Samuel J. Starr Auditorium would be a place where future generations can carry on his theatrical legacy.”

The dedication ceremony will be held Wednesday, April 4th at 6:00PM.
